Contradiction remains the best thing about rock and roll. It makes it mysterious and sexy, it urges us to listen harder and closer each time, sometimes we find something, often we don't. Wilco's Jeff Tweedy knows this and thrives off it. This album faces the dying of rock and roll with regret and excitement. What's next? Tweedy doesn't know, he's along for the ride. Being There is how he caught up with history, and it is breathtaking in its scope and sound. Bold and heartbreaking even while it warms you're soul. I only hope the next album keeps up.
