finally, after 16 years of putting out records, billy bragg gets his due. he's one of the only artists alive today with the philosophical similarities to woody guthrie to put together an album such as this. goodness knows nora guthrie didn't approach him for his name to sell units. her father and billy sung about the same things: love and social inequities.

add the rootsy musianship of wilco and the brew is finished. again, credit bragg with the selflessness of bringing wilco on-board instead of hoarding potential glory for himself. "mixing pop and politics..." - maybe more people know why now.
