When I first heard of this CD, I thought that it sounded like an interesting idea. I was a fan of Billy Bragg's and thought his politics would fit well with Woody Guthrie's. So when I picked up the CD, imagine my surprise at what a great job Bragg and Wilco did at marrying the music to the lyrics. This album could easily have been a curiosity for Woody Guthrie fans, but it is evident that it was a labor of love for all parties involved. I was also amazed at how valid Woody Guthrie's lyrics are 50 years later. Favorite tracks are 'California Stars', 'Eisler On The Go', and 'Ingrid Bergman'. Kudos to the folks at Elektra for promoting the album as well as they did.
