This is by far the most inspired album in years. Yes, I know the influences are plainly evident, but they are combined and distorted to one of the most original sounds in rocks library. Via Chicago is the best song that Neil Young never wrote, While Summer Teeth is as purely inventive as Pet Sounds. It is as different from Wilco's past albums as I Wanna Hold Your Hand is from Let it Be. This album is difficult to digest on the first listen, in fact I did not really like it until after I had it a while. Summer Teeth launched Wilco past its competitors(Son Volt and joe Henry). Give it a chance, you won't be sorry.
