The kind of people who will recommend Wilco to you are not your average music fans. I decided to buy the album after repeated recommendations from people who surely know their stuff. I wasn't disappointed with "Yankee Hotel." It's mostly brilliant though sometimes tedious. On the original album, some songs, such as the first, third, and last, are too long. But there are real gems here, from "Kamera" and "Jesus, etc.," to the light-hearted and sentimental (but still rocking) "Heavy Metal Drummer." The band deserves a lot of credit for experimenting with new sounds. The album has a nice mix of synthesizers and organic instruments. Wilco certainly deserves their reputation as one of the more daring bands around today. Too bad they don't sell more than Britney and J-Lo.
