People new to Wilco, beware of this album - it is great for various reasons, but it will be a difficult pill to swallow for new listeners. Being a longtime fan, it has been my pleasure to follow Wilco's evolution over the last several years. From the died in the wool alt country of 'AM', they started to flex their muscles in 'Being There'. Next, the magnafied the experimental aspects of that album into the wonderous, lush 'Summerteeth'. Here is where the path becomes rough. For people accustomed to their wonderous album with Billy Bragg or new listeners, I reccommend 'Summerteeth' as the one album that you must have. Even those who were introduced to Wilco through 'YHF', I reccomend listening to the earlier albums to appreciate the changes. Once again, Wilco follows the pattern of taking experiements from one album and maganfying them, creating the sonically adventerous 'YHF'. This album in more fragements, of which strong singles such as 'Heavy Metal Drummer' may entice people in, then expose them to 'Pot Kettle Black' or 'Reservations'. While it may be intimidating at first, under repeated listenings, this album stands up with both 'Being There' and 'Summerteeth' to become yet another classic.
