very american sounding.. "Heavy Metal Drummer" sounds very similar to "Cut Your Hair" by Pavement no? The lyrics are very reminiscent of that song. I really don't know what the fuss is over this record though... "Poor Places" is a great song, the rest are great, but not "extraordinary" or anything I haven't heard before. Pavement did the whole funky careless thing, and Jimi Hendrix had revolutionary guitars before this band, and the whole radio frequency, computer, modern-age stuff isn't so unique either. A great album but not something I rave about.
