FIGURING IT OUT

I have owned this CD now for over two months and am still trying to figure it out. "You were right about the stars, each one is a setting sun," just one example of clever lyricism and thoughtful reflections. But exactly what songs like war on war mean aren't clear to me. The steel guitar, atmosphere, jive of this album is great. On first listen you hear magnificently created pop songs with a major groove. But after a while you try and figure out what it means and it goes deeper than what you hear on the surface. Heartbreak? Courage? Making the best of life? Hope? Nostalgia? Elements of these things are there, but they are crafted in a way that makes you search it out and try to figure out what's going on. All my lies are only wishes. This is a fun album that goes deeper than the surface, and it is fun to dig into. Check it out.
